My doctor prescribed “Malarone” as an anti-malaria drug for an upcoming trip I am taking to the Amazon.  When I got to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, I was shocked at the price.  When checking the Costco price for Malarone, I found it to be about $7.00 / tablet.

It turns out there is a generic substitute for Malarone.  It can be seen at the same Costco web site, and is about $5.00 / tablet.  Anyway, be sure to check for the generic replacement for Malarone.  Some health insurance plans will provide generics at a very low co-pay.

The Malarone generic is known as ATOVAQUONE-PROGUANI.
